This morning and the rest of the day, I attended the Second Philippine Blogging Summit held at UP College of Law, Diliman, Q.C. It was funny and one of the best conferences I've attended as of now. The summit features a wide variety of speakers from the very serious people like Manuel L. Quezon III to the funniest persons like Dean Alfar.
Maybe you know me to be a happy person so where do you expect me to go? Of course, the happy and less serious business. This may sound as a typical news report with a pattern of chonological/sequences. But I prefer it the best way to tell you this.
First speaker was from DLSU but he said "He is from Maroon." Prof. Joel Yuvienco (http://joelogs.blogspot.com/) discussed his, well not really search for but adventure as he move from Xanga.com to Blogger.com. He was followed by a humorous Professor and Government pep again from DLSU. Humor and fun was Anton de Leon's (http://antonisat.blogspot.com/). He gave tips on how to make a blog funny and saying "it is not by jokes alone that you make your readers laugh." To end the track 1 of the summit was Mike Abundo (http://mikeabundo.com/) discussing blog accessories that would cause traffic, not in streets but in your blogs. He took a sneak in some blogs and gave some recommendations for improvement.
The next track was, in my opinon, the best among all. It started with a very energetic and lively talk by Dean Alfar (http://deanalfar.blogspot.com) on Author as a Blogger. The talk was full not only of information but of laughs and laughs. If last year he left the suman at latik fad among bloggers even having a suman-at-latik webring, well he has now left another fad, the "Do note fear tomorrow." I just hope there would be "Do note..." articles, poems, essays, and other stuffs. Well, that for laughs. But seriously, he was effective and even inspired me to write. When I asked him if he is joining the Palanca Awards for this year, he undoubtedly and withoput thinking twice said "YES." For him, joining contest is like joining a basketball tournament. You constantly play, as for him, write. He has a novel entitled "Salamanca" created within 30 days inside the Blogosphere. He has published copies of it and I wish to buy. Unfortunately, I have no money.
Graphic Detail creator Jonas Diego (http://jonasdiego.blogspot.com/) followed. He explained the innovation in blogging-placing comics strips. He showed some of his works and they were truly amazing, and to post a handmade comic strip and loads of photoshop work I guess is a lot of time. A teacher in Xavier School discussed the usefulness of blogs in teaching. Ms. Zarah Gagatiga (http://lovealibrarian.blogspot.com/) presented how blogging become helpful in developing the computer literacy and exposure of students as well as the teachers together with the concerning issues and limitations of its usage.
Lastly, track 6 although kind of boring was also entertaining. Ellen Tordesillas (http://www.ellentordesillas.com/) of Malaya and Erwin Oliva (http://cyberbaguioboy.wordpress.com/) of PDI shared the helpfulness of blogs in the field of professional journalism. Manuel Valoria (http://valoria.com/) and Brian Ligsay (http://bigbrian78.blogspot.com/) on the other hand share the new technology Podcasting.
Just check out their sites, soon I'll place them in my links here in the right side.
